Skrei is a special kind of migratory Norwegian cod. Skrei means ‘wanderer’, referring to the 1000km journey results in amazing chunky flesh that tastes divine.
To be quality-labelled SKREI, the cod must be caught between Jan-Apr in the natural spawning areas, grown in pristine condition – no marks or blemishes (min weight of 2 kg.),packed within 12 hours and certified 100% sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council.
Due to the prime condition of this hard swimming Cod it have extra firm muscles, firm and delicate white meat. Beautifully white, light and lean with delivate, silky-smooth flavor, and not at least the clean taste that comes from swimming in the cold, clear waters of Norway. The flavor is unique. It breaks into beautiful translucent flakes, which is always a sign of quality. This is a seasonal and high-quality product. Its white meat is firmer than that of many other fish and it’s suitable for various preparations.
Store chilled in ice or refrigerator (0-50C). Consume within 2-3 days. Do not freeze.
